Quick and Easy Chips

I am a fan of pita bread but always end up not using the entire package. After spending the Fourth of July with my family, I noticed my aunt making chips with pita bread and said "AH HA!" .. no more wasted pita bread. These delicious chips are quick and easy to make, healthy and have been a hit amongst my friends. They go great with hummus, salsa, cheese or vegetable dip!

Quick and Easy Chips

Serving Size: Two people
Estimated Prep Time: Five Minutes
Cook Time: Five Minutes

Ingredients

2 Pitas (You can do more, but two usually feeds two people comfortably)
Olive Oil Cooking Spray
Italian Seasoning
Salt and Pepper

1) Set your oven to HIGH BROIL.
2) Set your baking sheet on the counter.
3) Slice your pitas so you have a top and bottom.
4) Cut these in to pieces (I rip them, but cutting makes them look prettier)
5) Lay the pieces out on the baking sheet; make sure they don't overlap!
6) Spray the pieces with the Olive Oil cooking spray
7) Grab a small palm-full of Italian seasoning and sprinkle these on the chips, fairly evenly.
8) Take a pinch of salt and pepper and sprinkle these on the chips too.
9) By now, your oven should be pretty hot. Put the baking sheet in the oven. Check on these in five minutes. The chips should appear golden-to-dark brown.

BEWARE: The broiler gets very hot, so keep an eye on these guys. If the chips get too brown, they start to smoke and eventually burn which you and your roommates won't like!

Welcome to Coedibles!

Welcome to Coedibles, a place where you can come when it is 'mystery meat' day at the cafeteria. Cooking is one of my favorite past-times and after reading my blog and some hands-on experience, I hope it becomes one of yours too! I'm a college student, just like you, and I am sick and tired of Easy Mac, Ramen Noodles and Hot Pockets. I realize that we don't have a ton of money to spend on groceries. So any recipe on here will be the most cost-efficient, delicious and healthy recipe that I can come up with. Promise. I have eaten everything I post and invite you to share your comments, experiences or tips that you found that worked well here, on the blog. Bon appetit!
